Emergency Preparedness

For Special Needs Children

During a disaster, special needs children are most vulnerable when they are at school and away from parents that know the health needs of their child.

CharityMobi provides MobiEHR® Health ID cards which contain emergency health information. Our programs educate parents about emergency preparedness. We provide emergency managemnt experts to inform parents about local & state disaster plans.

We educate parents about the risks for their disabled child during a disaster or quarantine evacuation, when the parent is not present to advocate for their son or daughter. We teach parents to sign up for Twitter Alerts to receive preventive instructions, evacuation directions, urgent safety alerts. Our workshops are provided for parents of special needs children. We specialize in mobilizing and training parents of children with Autisim Spectrum Disorders ("ASD") as one in eighty eight children have ASD. These children are vunerable in emergency shelters. Many are simply unable or unwilling to follow directions and may not request needed medical attention or other releif aid.

Twitter Alerts are intended for crisis, disaster, and emergency communications in the categories below. Examples of when CharityMobi or other agencies may send a Twitter Alert include:

  • Natural disaster and severe weather: A disaster in which the proximate cause is a natural hazard.
  • Biological incident: Naturally occurring or man-made biological diseases (communicable and non-communicable) that can cause illness or death in people, animals, or plants.
  • Chemical or hazardous materials emergencies: An emergency involving the intentional or unintentional release of a chemical or hazardous material (e.g. oil) that poses a threat to public health, welfare, or the environment.
  • Nuclear or radiological incident: Release of radioactive material that poses an actual or perceived hazard to public health, safety, national security, or the environment.
  • Explosion: Explosion or blast that can produce numerous casualties with complex, technically challenging injuries.
  • Food and agricultural incident: Notification of threats to public health, animal health, food production, aquaculture, livestock production, wildlife, soils, rangelands, and agricultural water supplies.
  • Cyber incident: Cyber-related incident of potential or actual large-scale and negative significance.
  • Terrorism incident: A threatened or actual terrorist incident.
  • Crime: Incidents of criminal activity that place the public in life-threatening harm and require immediate police, fire, or emergency medical services.
  • Major transportation incident: Severe disruptions of transportation arteries, infrastructure, or services.

CharityMobi will send an alert via Twitter only in the event of a catastrophic emergency. You may receve Twitter alerts from other certified emergency alert agencies. Our communications may include warnings for imminent dangers, preventive instructions, evacuation directions, urgent safety alerts, information on access to essential resources, information on critical transit and utility outages, and crowd and misinformation management

CharityMobi provides workshops to teach families how to be prepared for emergencies, how to sign up for Twitter Alerts, and how to respond in a disaster. We teach parents specifically how to guard their special needs child by providing emergency health care information and how to implement a disaster management plan for reuniting with their special needs child just as soon as possible. We teach parents how to access MobiEHR® Disaster Relief to obtain reunification information for families with special needs children.

Need for Emergency Preparedness               Health ID Cards and Twitter Alerts

CharityMobi estimates that 11,058,309 Special Needs Children in the Untied States are in need of MobiEHR® Health ID cards and Twitter Alerts.

Why Special needs children need emergency preparedness cards:

  • Many Special Needs Children take prescription medications daily.
  • They have conditions that pose dire health risks without treatment.
  • They have chronic diseases, respiratory and disabling conditions.
  • They are most at risk due to previous surgery.
  • They have chronic mental health conditions where medications may cause drug reactions with the child's prescription medicines which are unknown to provider.
  • Children with mental health problems are more at risk to run away - into danger; refuse and reject medical care when a parent is not present, and have other overt behavioral reactions when under stress in a disaster.

Emergency health information must be provided to relief aid workers to safely provide emergency care. Emergency workers must make triage decisions, administer safe medications for pain relief and sedation, and make use of the child's past medical treatment records to make key medical decisions for safe emergency medical treatment. Health records  are needed before referring  a child for emergency surgery, as previous surgery may indicate high surgical risks. Medical history can save a child's life!

Heath Information for your Child's Emergency Care

If a disaster strikes, parents may not be present with their children. It is the parent's responsibility to provide emergency preparedness, be prepared to repond to Twitter Alerts during a disaster, and provide the lifesaving medical information that is needed for the medical treatment of their child during a disaster.

WHAT NEEDS TO BE ON AN EMERGENCY HEALTH CARD

Up-to-date information is needed on a child emergency health card-  not information that was printed on a paper card two years ago.  The card needs to have the child's emergency medications, vaccinations, allergies, surgeries, blood type, blood sugar if diabetic, respiratory conditions, nebulizer treatments or medications, and other care instructions. Your child's physicians must provide special emergency treatment conditions that are lifesaving for your child's treatment in an emergency. The changing health care conditions, treatments and medications for your child are easily updated and provided on the MobiEHR® Health ID card.

MobiEHR® Health ID card facilitates coordinated care.

During a Disaster your child's up-to-date- health care record may be used as a reference for emergency medical decisions. The card may be updated by relief aid workers and physicians at the time of emergency treatment. The card can be provided to relief aid transportation EMTs during the emergency transport of your child to the hospital. Care records may be updated by any care provider that provides treatment for your child. Advance directives and the child's personal physician' directions may be followed.  Coordinated care may be provided by all relief aid team members that use the MobiEHR® Health ID card.

Emergency Treatment Records for The Parent

Parents desperately want to know the health status and the actual care that was provided for their child during the emergency treatment. The MobiEHR® Health ID card provides an up to date disaster treatment record for your child that is recorded right when those relief aid workers or physicians provide care for your child -when you are not present.

Family Reunification in Disaster

Each parent wants to quickly reunite with their children in a safe place. MobiEHR® Health ID cards can provide your selected safe place to meet your children. MobiEHR® relief aid workers will help reunite families.

How the system works when the Internet is down.

The CharityMobi- MobiEHR® Health ID cards may be used in emergencies when the internet is down, when mobile network services are not functioning. A child's emergency treatment records are saved on each MobiEHR® Health ID microchip card.  All emergency providers can read the cards and update the medical information without use of the internet.

WHAT IS THE EQUIPMENT & SOFTWARE THAT IS REQUIRED?

Each Relief Aid Physician, relief aid worker or a hospital facility must have a notebook computer and a card reader to use the MobiEHR® Health ID system. The MobiEHR® Health ID card system requires each computer to be loaded with proprietary software.  CharityMobi provides each user a flash drive card that contains the software that is to be loaded on the computer.  There is no charge for the MobiEHR® Health ID software. The system is very cost effective because their is no change for the software.
